Allergies are exaggerated reactions of the body to what seems to be everyday harmless things such pet dander, dust, pollens and certain food. Patients with an allergic reaction have varying experiences depending on the type of allergy triggered by the allergen. It could either be contact dermatitis, where a mere contact of the allergen with skin triggers an allergic reaction, or allergic rhinitis, also called hayfever, where an allergen enters the respiratory tract and inflammation of the nasal passages occurs causing difficulty in breathing for the patient. Allergies are immediately suppressed by ingesting an antihistamine. Below are some alternative remedies to stop allergic reactions:
- Chamomile tea is quite effective in reducing the duration of hayfever.
- Chop ginger into small pieces. Pour 3 teaspoons of chopped ginger into 1 cup boiling water. Allow to boil for about 5 minutes. Drink ginger ale to relieve asthma attacks.
